Why Summer Dance?

With Spring upon us and the Summer months in reach, it’s time to start thinking about Summer activities for your children! At Hearts in Motion, we have a robust schedule filled with classes, camps, workshops and more. You might be wondering, what is the importance of dance classes in the Summer? Well, I’m here to share with you some of the reasons why dance is the perfect activity for your child this Summer, whether a brand new student or new student!

Avoid the Summer slide - Just like with school, it’s pretty easy to slide a little bit in the Summer without taking class! Especially for older dancers, when we don’t use our muscles in a certain way for 3 months, it’s like we have to re-train them to re-engage them when the Fall season starts back up again. Dancing through the Summer helps us to maintain our dance technique!

Try something new! Summer is a perfect time for new or returning students to try something new with a very limited commitment. If you’ve always wondered what a hip hop class is like or maybe acro or contemporary, Summer is the perfect time to give it a try! It might become your favorite style and one you’d like to add to your repertoire for the Fall season!

Encourage off-screen creativity. Dance is a great way for your child to explore his or her creative side. It’s also a chance for them to get off of a screen, move their bodies and have fun! Dance encourages engagement of our brain in many different ways which help us to develop our creative side, critical thinking, decision making, memory development, speed learning and so much more!

Have fun! Dance is a great way to add a little bit of fun to your child’s summer. Our classes and camps are filled with fun music, movement, props, games, crafts, choreography and more! Dancers get to make new friends and create lasting memories!

These are just a few of the many reasons we encourage Summer dance classes and camps! For me, it’s hard to choose a favorite, but I have to say I’m SO excited for our Friday morning mini camps! These are a big hit and we love the fun that all the dancers have with us each week dancing, tumbling and crafting! I also can’t wait for our first ballet and lyrical camp and all the flower crafts we have planned. Truly, you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose - we hope to see you at Hearts in Motion this Summer!
